chief engineer

Mixing engineer Bodo Schulte works in the business for over 25 years. He started as a composer and session keyboarder. But his real talent was audio engineering. Next to his mix of several #1 albums he did a lot of live shows and won the Opus Stage Sounddesign award.

recording

The Mixfarm has a recording room to record vocals, piano or acoustic guitars. For bigger recording projects its possible to build up a location recording setup. Swiss artist Jaël relied on an orchestra recording like that for her upcoming album „Sinfonia“. We collaborate with musicians we trust to add all kind of tracks to your production.

The Mixfarm offers DDP, Digital and Vinyl mastering. Single Songs or a complete Album. Analog or Digital. With TruTape technology on our 1/2“ Telefunken M15A you can add some real saturation to your mix.

360 surround sound

Opus Stage Award in category sound design

Sound experiences fascinate us humans especially where it gets difficult. To get as close as possible to nature with their acoustic messages. Stereophony, surround, delta stereophony, and wavefield synthesis are steps to approach the sound images provided by nature. However, the use of these techniques not work in every environment and not among all conditions. Technical and financial possibilities set limits.

If someone is found who wants to inspire the audience with a special sound installation, this must include a very high level of empathy in the requirements and artistic interaction with the technical possibilities that face modern touring productions.

The use of surround technology has not only been known since Pink Floyd in the touring shop. Unique about the Schiller tour, was that all listeners were put into the soundfield and not outside.

The surround sound system was not simply used to reproduce sound effects, like we all know with Pink Floyd, but to create a sound scape during the whole concert. The audience was placed in another acoustical space than the venue normally is known for.

All areas of the arena audience could enjoy a full 360 surround sound experience. This was achieved through a unique installations of several audio systems in a Dolby surround setup and a super unique control package provided by Bodo Schulte.

The listener in these shows were offered a sound experience of a special kind.

The realisation of such a special sound experience was the reason to award the sounddesigner and headengineer Bodo Schulte with the:

Opus Stageaward in the category Sound Design
